Hi, I’m Claire - and this is the bit where I explain why you should work with me

Professional, accredited dog trainer and behaviourist in Stroud, Gloucester, Cheltenham, Cirencester, Stonehouse, Cam & Dursley, Tetbury, Nailsworth

I am accredited

Did you know that dog training is unregulated?! Its crazy to think that literally anyone can call themselves a dog trainer, fortunately the ABTC was set up to help people like you find properly accredited professional animal training professionals who have been trained and assessed to a very high standard.

I am a full accredited member of the APDT and an ABTC Registered Animal Trainer. I am degree educated and hold Diplomas with distinctions in both Canine Coaching and Canine Behaviour Professional.

I am experienced

With 8 years experience in dog training, I have helped thousands of dogs and their owners. Before relocating to Gloucestershire I owned and ran A Different Dog in St Albans. I’ve since handed it over the brilliant Dilnaz Baria, but check it out to see our glowing reviews and what an impact we made in Hertfordshire.

I have been you…

Full disclosure… I have been there… I’ve been an enthusiastic and yet clueless new puppy owner. I’ve struggled with a teenage dog and upsettingly my dog has had behavioural issues. I have two young children and a business to run, so I ‘Get It’! I get how it feels when things aren’t quite right, I get how hard it is to squeeze in a dog with its own unique needs too. I am fully compassionate in my approach and can help you turn things around in a sustainable way.

You will love working with me if…

You only want to use positive science based methods with your dog

Shockingly lots of dog trainers out there are not only un-accredited but they actually use aversive methods to ‘get the job done’. However the evidence is crystal clear and the British Veterinary Association says that there is no need for anything that causes pain or fear to an animal. I promise that all of my methods are kind and use positive reward based methods. This is not only better for your dog but its actually more effective and also promotes a happy bond between you and your beloved dog.

You want your dog to be a dog!

Sadly the modern human life can be very stressful for dogs and this can cause many problem behaviours. I hate seeing over-trained dogs who look ‘perfect’ but have actually had their personalities’ trained out of them.

I want your dog to run, use their amazing noses, and cuddle you on the sofa. What I want is for your dog to be… well… a DOG! And I want you and your family to have the skills to manage and enjoy their very special doggyness.

You appreciate the need for doggy soft skills

There is so much emphasis on ‘obedience training’ dogs, however for most dog owners what they actually need is a dog who can live in their human world. Who can be left alone, who can enjoy walks with you, who will allow you to bathe them and administer medication, and so much more. I expertly combine training all the usual skills with these key life skills in all of my work, ensuring you always get the whole dog approach.
